Post-operative care for skin lesions

After skin removal, it is okay to take a light shower the day after surgery .

It is best to leave the white patch on for the first 4 days after surgery. After that, it is okay to remove the patch.

Important: The brown patches/strips should be left in place and not removed unless they come off almost on their own or are sutured at a healthcare facility.

Sewing — when and where?

7 days

Skin lesions on the face

Stitches usually need to be removed after 7 days .

An appointment is made at your healthcare center with a nurse for a suture removal.

7–10 days

Skin lesions on the trunk and/or extremities

Stitches usually need to be removed after 7–10 days .

An appointment is made at your healthcare center with a nurse for a suture removal.

In the case of skin grafting

In the case of a skin graft, the stitches are usually removed after about 7–8 days by the doctor who performed the procedure.

Note: During a skin graft, stitches are removed by the doctor who performed the procedure , not at a healthcare facility.
